PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT BREED MINI AUSSIES
The Miniature Australian Shepherd, North American Shepherd, North American Miniature Australian Shepherd, &/or Toy Australian Shepherd are NOT recognized as a variety of Australian Shepherd by AKC & ASCA. They consider such dogs to be a distinct & separate breed & will not accept them into their registry.
The Australian Shepherd is a breed of amazing intelligence and abilities. The Aussie was developed for the purpose of herding livestock and serving as a loyal and watchful companion. Our goal at Golden Acres Ranch is to keep those inherent qualities thriving, that is, a keen mind, a willingness to please and athleticism. The majority of our dogs have become wonderful family companions, with some becoming Search & Rescue & therapy dogs. We also donate two puppies a year to Guide Dogs For The Blind. All our puppies have great dispositions and are home raised with love and affection and are quick and sharp minded. The puppies we raise just need to be pointed in the direction you wish.
Our puppies are sold as family/companion dogs only. We do not sell our dogs for working or breeding. We do not stand our Stud Dogs to outside bitches. Our puppies are registered through the Australian Shepherd Club Of America without breeding rights. For a copy of our contract please feel free to email us.
We have decided to make this our standard policy because of the lack of concern some people have for the health and well being of the breed.

"JUST A DOG"
From time to time people tell me, "Lighten up, it's just a dog," or "that's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, time spent, or costs involved for "Just a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "Just a dog." Many hours have passed with my only company being "just a dog," and not once have I felt slighted. Some of my saddest moments were brought about by "Just a dog." In those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "Just a dog" provided comfort and purpose to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "Just a dog," you will probably understand the phrases like "Just a friend." "Just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of "Just a dog" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
For me and folks like me, it's not "Just a dog," it's an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday people can understand it's not "Just a dog." It's the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "Just a man or woman." So the next time you hear the phrase "Just a dog," smile, because they "Just Don't Understand."
Sam's story
This is GA Sierra Yankee Doodle Sam. He was purchased from us in 2003. He's a beautiful blue merle male by KC & Briar. After owning him for almost 11 years, the family decided, for whatever reason, to get rid of him. Instead of contacting us for help in placing him or finding him a loving home, they decided to dump him off at ASPCA. I can only imagine how terrified & confused he was. It sickens us to think people can be so heartless. Thank God there is a happy ending to Sam's story. He was adopted the same day he was dropped off. Bob, the new owner, contacted us to let us know about what had happened. We were so thankful he did. Sam can now live out his life in a loving home with a family that will love & care for him.
